New game the result of fan demand

[Update: Seven-minute gameplay video added below, showing off Strider’s new moves and upgrades like exploding cipher, projectile reflection, and a lot more]

Capcom’s San Diego Comic-Con announcement turned out to be an honest-to-goodness surprise. An all-newStriderhas been announced for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 and it’s in development atKiller Instinctstudio Double Helix. That’s some cause for concern, I agree, but I’m willing to have some faith in this. It’s all I’ve got!

“Part of Strider’s enduring appeal has been blazing fast gameplay, married with deep environment traversal options,”reads the announcement. “For the new game, Double Helix and our partner team in Osaka, Japan, concentrated on an ultra-responsive control system, with incredibly satisfying combat options in every traversal context — standing, running, wall climbing, hanging, aerial and more.”

Double Helix is said to be working alongside some of the “originalStridercreative leaders,” for what it’s worth. Either way, it’s been such a long wait that it’ll be hard to meet expectations. Fingers crossed. This game also opts for a “massive interconnected world” over traditional, linear levels and has a “deep” system for ability upgrades. Sounds good to me.
