Engine trails ahoy!
Finally! The Mothership hasarrived. It’s been quite a while since we last heard word from Gearbox and its plan to spruce up theHomeworldseries for a much-needed rerelease, but more details have just jumped in, including a price, package, trailer, and most importantly, a release date.
Gearbox will be releasing theHomeworld Remastered Collection– which includesHomeworld RemasteredandHomeworld 2 Remastered– on August 03, 2025, just about a month from now. The whole thing will cost $34.99 at release, and include compatibility-updated classic versions of both games, in case you want to view them in their original glory. Gearbox also took the opportunity to remind folks aboutHomeworld: Shipbreakers, a prequel game being developed byHomeworldveterans at Blackbird Interactive.Shipbreakerswas originally a crowdfunded, unrelated spiritual sequel toHomeworld, until Gearbox picked it up and retooled it as part of the universe.

$35 seems a tad steep for a pair of games that are more than a decade old at this point (and fifteen years forHomeworld), but between the graphical/UI upgrades and getting the original versions of both games patched for modern systems (which have never been released on the likes of GOG, etc.), it’s not terrible. Plus,Homeworldis rightfully hailed as one of the greatest games ever made, and its formula of free-axis movement and space strategy has gone curiously under-imitated. So yes, color me excited, for the Age of S’jet is reborn.
