Last month, the “100,000 Strong”Mega Man Legends 3movement decided to hold anMMLweapon design conteston Capcom-Unity’s Devroom. Participants would submit ideas in written format along with diagrams or anything else to illustrate their concept; the winner would be sent a Mega Man Volnutt figurine with a custom attachment modeled after the winning design. It was a fun contest meant to revel in Mega Man appreciation and to hopefully spread awareness for the movement. It seems to have worked, too — the number of “likes” has since jumped from 64,000 to 85,000!
After sorting through roughly 250 entries, the judges have selected ten finalists, and voting will be open through through April 15. Head on over to thevoting page, read the descriptions of the entries, and cast your vote. Some of these weapons are quite clever indeed, while others just flat-out look boss. There’s a triple-barrel shotgun, a deployable net for non-lethal combat, a pair of improved jet shoes, a giant Reaverbot arm, a cannon shaped like the Flutter, and more.
My favorite pick by far would have to be the extremely versatile Velocity Buster, which was demonstrated by athispairof YouTube videos. It creates a green portal that greatly accelerates any object that passes through it. It can be used to jump higher, to launch enemies towards other enemies at lethal speeds, to enhance the effectiveness of other weapons, and so on. It’s pretty sick!
