The Smithsonianis hosting an exhibit called “The Art of Video Games” next year. This exhibit consists of game footage, interviews, large prints of screenshots and playable classic game consoles. The creators say it will be the “the first to examine comprehensively the evolution of games as an artistic medium.”

Expect to see everything from the Atari VCS to the PS3 in the display that spans four decades of gaming. The public will be asked to assist with the selection of materials by choosing the games that they feel best represent parts of gaming’s history.
