After much anticipation, the anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s iconic horror mangaUzumakihas finally arrived. Known for its eerie atmosphere, twisted visuals, and psychological dread,Uzumakihas long been hailed as one of the most haunting works in the horror genre.
Fans have eagerly awaited its transformation from page to screen. And now, with its debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami block,Uzumakiis bringing Ito’s nightmarish vision to life.

TheUzumakianime will be a mini-series consisting of four episodes, each airing weekly through mid-October. As of now, two episodes have aired. Here’sUzumaki‘s full release schedule:
For the uninitiated,Uzumakicenters around the eerie happenings in a small town that becomes obsessed with spirals. It all started with a weird phenomenon, then spiraled into a grotesque horror consuming the entire town.

Studio Drive is in charge of the anime’s production, while Production I.G. USA and Adult Swim co-produce the series. The anime was initially set to debut in 2020, but itfaced a series of delaysthat pushed the release back multiple times.
Production issues postponed the series in 2021, then complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic further delayed the project to October 2022. But in mid-2022, the creators made the difficult decision to delay the project indefinitely, stating their desire to ensure that the adaptation was not just visually stunning but also true to the spirit of Junji Ito’s original work.
