The futuristic shooter is coming to a close in April
Ubisoft’sHyper Scapeis shutting its doors. The publisher confirmed that it’s ending development and the game will shut down on Jul 05, 2025.
“We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey,” readsa message from theHyper Scapeteam. “We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.”
The team also thanked its community for their passion and dedication to the game.
Hyper Scapelaunched intoopen beta in July 2020, with afull launch to followin August of the same year. It also launched into a genre that was already pretty crowded, with giants likeApex LegendsandCall of Duty Warzonein the same arena.
While ithad some good ideas, it seems like things never came all the way together forHyper Scape. Updates seemed to have slowed down over the months, as thesite’s newsfeed indicates, and now the battle royale will see its doors shut for good.
There aremany,manymorefree-to-play shooters currently on the docket for Ubisoft. And though the writing may have been on the wall forHyper Scape, it’s still a shame to see a game quietly go away like this. It might just be a sign of the times, as battle royales seem to be waning in favor of a new wave ofEscape From Tarkov-alike game modes.
