You can’t escape your past
It’s a great day for horror fans, as Genvid Technologies and Behaviour Interactive have released a new trailer forSilent Hill: Ascension. Representing just one slice of theSHrejuvenation, this teaser gives a brief taste of things to come. Unlike the other projects,Ascensionis going to be an interactive experience, produced in conjunction with J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robots. The fact that it’s being co-developed by theDead by Daylightteam should intrigue a few people.
The trailer itself does suggest that the game may depart from what fans have come to love about the iconic, yet criminally dormant, survival horror series. That’s not surprising, seeing asAscensionis pretty much a spin-off. However, the fact that you’ll get to influence the story directly should be enough of a pull. In any case, some of you are probably still pinching yourself thatSilent Hillis finally coming back.

Not since 2012’sBook of Memorieshas there been a new entry, so it was a pleasant shock when, in November 2022, Konami announced a multitude of games under theSHumbrella. While such projects asSilent Hill f, with its creepy Japanese flavor, andTownfallare ones to look out for, the one that’s on everyone’s watch list is the remake of the 2001 masterpieceSilent Hill 2. This reimagining is being helmed byLayers of Feardeveloper Bloober Team. Make of that what you will.
On top of games, there’s alsoa newSilent Hillmovie in production, which is being directed by Christophe Gans who did the 2006 adaptation. Essentially, it’s all go for Konami’s legendary horror series.Silent Hill: Ascensionis currently in development, and is scheduled for release in 2023.
