PlayStation Music app coming to PS4, PS3 this spring

Spotify is coming to PlayStation Network this spring, Sony and Spotify announced today.

The streaming service will launch via a new “music destination” called PlayStation Music, which will allow users to link their PSN accounts to Spotify and listen via PlayStation consoles as well as Xperia smartphones and tablet devices.

The exclusive partnership signals the end for Music Unlimited. Sony’son-demand streaming service will cease operationsin 19 countries on May 30, 2025. As recompense for the closure, Music Unlimited users with active subscriptions will receive up to 30 days of free access and an introductory Spotify Premium trial.

As was the case with Music Unlimited, PS4 owners will be to rock out while playing games, as Spotify can run in the background during your play session. PlayStation Music is currently planned for 41 markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia, though plans for Japan are still TBA.

Video Unlimited will continue to exist, but is being rebranded as PlayStation Video. According to Sony, the moves are part of a broader initiative to bring network services under a single brand.
