A remake of a remake

Capcom has announced a brand new remastered edition of the originalResident Evil, coming to PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One as a digital-only title for early 2015.

The port is based off the original 2001 GameCube “REmake,” as we so lovingly refer to it, and will feature 1080p visuals for current-gen consoles and 720p for older systems. Additionally, there will be 5.1 surround sound support.

If you’re averse to change, you can play the game in classic 4:3 ratio or in 16:9 widescreen, with a choice of varying play styles to accompany the new dynamic camera angle option. The camera scrolls with you in widescreen, with screen real estate that’s normally cut off on the top or bottom coming into view depending on where you’re located onscreen.

Famitsurevealed an image this morning that gives a brief glimpse into what we might be able to expect from the remake, and you’ve got the video above with producers Tetsuya Kitabayashi and Yoshiaki Hirabyashi discussing the upcoming title. No Wii U version has been announced thus far.
