Destructoid’s most wanted games of 2013

The staff picks their most wanted game! Everyone basically says this at the beginning of every year, but I’m going to say it anyway: 2013 is going to be the best year in gaming! Jane Jensen’s Moebius gets a haphazard trailer

His name is Malachi Rector, not the other thing you were thinking I’m glad that I refrain from judging a game on its trailer, especially its first one, because the alpha trailer forJane Jensen‘sMoebiusis… well it’s not great. Camp, full of dodgy, forced accents, and poorly put together — it doesn’t engender confidence. The randomly thrown together scenes look lovely, though. It’s reminiscent ofCognition, which makes sense given that Jensen is working onMoebiuswithCognition’screators, Phoenix Online....

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on iOS is astoundingly faithful, if you have a controller

That ‘if’ though Here we are in 2014 with an iOS port of a PSP game, in the form ofMonster Hunter Freedom Unite. The kicker? It’s very, very good. As a port of 2008’sFreedom Unite, everything is faithfully recreated on an iOS device. The hundreds of hours of gameplay, the countless training sessions, the lengthy hunts long into the night, the complex combat system — it’s all here. The classicMonster hunterstyle remains — hang out a bit in town, grab a timed mission, complete it for materials and rank, and repeat 100 or more times....

New details surface about Wind Waker 2’s cancellation

Toon Link can’t ride horses While it may not be common knowledge,The Wind Wakerwas supposed to get a more traditional sequel. Sure,Phantom Hourglasstakes place directly after the events of the game, but Nintendo was going to cast Toon Link in another adventure for consoles had fan reception been warmer.Twilight Princesshappened, instead, becauseNorth Americanfans weren’t pleased with the more cartoony style the series had taken. I bet most people are blaming themselves for that, but it turns out that the US’ penchant for realism isn’t the only reason we never saw Toon Link return to the Gamecube....
