Slain: Back from Hell is coming soon to PS4

Xbox One and PS Vita to follow In many ways,Slainwas a disappointing game at launch, but in the months since, the developers have put out enough gameplay-altering updates and fixes to warrant a relaunch. The new version,Slain: Back from Hell, is substantially better. It has gone from a disaster to a pretty-damn-good 2D hack-and-slash game in the vein of something you might’ve played in the late ’80s or early ’90s....

Star Citizen breaks crowdfunding record for games

$6.23 million in pledges and counting Chris Roberts and the rest of Cloud Imperium probably had a good day. The studio’s space sim,Star Citizen, set the new recordfor crowdfunded videogames by raising $6,238,563 through Kickstarter and Roberts’ website. That may not seem like a lot in the context of large-scale development budgets, but for an unreleased product paid in part by people on the Internet? Crazy. Stretch goals be damned. “I am absolutely elated by the incredible outpouring of support for this project,” stated Roberts....

Syndicate’s new co-op trailer has some heat

This latest trailer forSyndicateis pretty damn exciting. It’s a sparse overview of the title’s cooperative mode which lets you team up with three other operatives on assignments deemed to difficult for a lone agent to accomplish. We’ll be getting a closer look at the mode very soon, but this has sufficiently wet my appetite. I love the lack of pretense involved in corporate espionage as seen in cyberpunk settings like this one....

Terraria for consoles looks just as huge in this trailer

In terms of design and content updates,Terrariawas a very PC-centric game to the point where I was rathersurprised to hearthat it’s coming to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Pleasantly surprised, I might add — this is a great way to reach people who would otherwise never play. The more you get to knowTerraria, the more you discover that it really is its own thing, contrary to what first impressions might suggest....

The Battlefront 2 resurgence made me realize how much I love Star Wars

All the craze surroundingStar Wars: Battlefront 2, and my getting caught up in the mass return to EA’s 2017 title, scratched an itch I had long forgotten. The humming of lightsabers, iconic blaster sounds, and a brilliantly beautiful alien galaxy spurred me to revisit this classic franchise. As a kid, I was aStar Warsbuff like any other. I owned a lightsaber myself, though not one as cool as in the movies....

The Wii is blatantly better than Barack Obama

The REAL political debate of the year This year, two reigning incumbents are looking to win themselves a second term of power. I am, of course, talking about president-elect of the United States, Barack Obama, and president-man of the eighth console generation, the Wii home entertainment gaming family device. Really, the difference between the two situations is practically non-existent. Both became world leaders from humble and unlikely beginnings. Both have won praise and criticism for their unorthodox ways....

ThinkGeek’s PotatOS is GLaDOS in a friggin’ potato

Back in December, ThinkGeek rolled out abig line ofPortal 2tie-in merchandise, from anAperture Labs shower curtainto the super populartalking Cave Johnson portrait. The weirdest item, however, was definitely the PotatOS kit that recreated the experience of carrying GLaDOS around in the palm of your hand. Originally marked for $29.99, PotatOS is currently discounted to $24.99. But the real reason for this post is the new demonstration video that ThinkGeek just uploaded....

This fan-made Star Fox cartoon sure is stellar

‘That is so cute…’ Star Fox Zerofinally launched this month and hadthe receptionof a wet fart in a lift. Fans of Fox McCloud might be sadZeroturned out to be such a dud, but animator, and voice actorMatthew Gaffordhas saved the day with the first episode of his fantastic animated series,A Fox in Space. This 13-minute long episode is seriously impressive when you consider almost everything was done by Gafford himself. Other people did help with some elements of production, but on the whole, this was Gafford’s solo project....

This Fishing Master World Tour’s music is my new jam

Around the Destructoid office, the Wii and its motion controls are always a hot topic. We had a very lengthy discussion (read: argument) a few days back concerning the controls, with the topic centered around how hand movements seem to make what would be simple button presses more difficult. Normally, I’m a proud member of thebuttons over wagglegroup. I totally stood my ground during this discussion, but sometimes the Wii control scheme just makes sense....
