Singer Dion sues ZeniMax over Fallout 4’s use of ‘The Wanderer’

Not Celine Singer Dion DiMucci has filed a lawsuit against ZeniMax Media over their use of his ’60s pop hit ‘The Wanderer’ in conjunction withFallout 4. The reported $1 million lawsuit claims that the song, which DiMucci signed off on through his label UMG, was used as a backdrop to “…repugnant and morally indefensible images designed to appeal to young consumers” in the game’s marketing campaign. As part of the signing Dion retained the right to pull the song if it was to be used in a way in which he disagreed....

Slightly harder boss versions are not enough to keep Elden Ring: Nightreign afloat

Some months after launch,Elden Ring: Nightreignremains the same game it was on release. FromSoftware’s first almost live-service game has sure gotten its fair share of developer attention, but the type of “new” content simply isn’t enough to keep things interesting. Nightreigngets weekly updates and changes that attempt to shake things up a bit and break the monotony of your umpteenth 40-minute run with two randoms who have no clue what they’re doing....

Tech talk: Lead architect describes road to PlayStation 4

A fascinating lecture from Mark Cerny In this Gamelab 2013 lecture, PlayStation 4 lead architect Mark Cerny discusses the hurdles of developing for the notoriously-challenging PlayStation 3 and how that led to a morestandardized approach(and lack of Cell processor) with the PS4. “We didn’t want the hardware to be a puzzle that the developers would need to solve to make quality titles,” he said of the upcoming system’s architecture. The talk starts with a recap of his mind-blowing professional history, which includes stints at Atari, Sega, and Universal Interactive Studios working alongside studios such as Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog....

The Battle Cats 3DS is coming to the West after all

Kept us waiting! Shortly after learning aboutThe Battle Catsthrough a Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation last year, I decided that rather than wait for the 3DS version to possibly get localized, I’d be better off playing the existing mobile game to satiate my curiosity. In retrospect, that was the right call. Developer Ponos is only now about to release the 3DS version,The Battle Cats POP!, in the West. It’s “coming soon” to the eShop with head-to-head multiplayer and all the silly, scary, leggy, muscular, demonic, messed-up cats you could possibly want....

The Podcastle episode 09: Byronic Commando

Tonight we talk about The Byron Report, in between arguments aboutCall of Duty 4and Wardrox and I singing excerpts from Jeff Wayne’sWar of the Worldsconcept album (a magnificent LP, do check it out). I believe we’re slowly getting closer to appearing on that iTunes thing so many of you beg for. Maybe this is the episode, but we’ll have to wait and see....

Tokyo Game Show 2010: 138 companies, 1,410 booth units

Those that have been reading Destructoid since its beginnings will know that I love the Tokyo Game Show so much that it’s hard for me not to think about it. Or talk about it. It’s easily my favorite part of this job, and I always profusely thank the Supreme Robot Commander for sending me on the assignment every year. It’s still a bit early to be thinking about the September 16-19 event, but I’m already excited....

If you’re going to get it (and you aren’t already standing in a line somewhere waiting for guys dressed like Mario to prance around and attempt to grope you “accidentally”) you may as well go this route, unless you have a vendetta against Toys R Us or something....

Ultimate Tekken Bowl DLC hitting Tekken 7 next week

Included in DLC #1 along with new costumes I love it when games are willing to go to goofy or otherwise strange places with their extra modes, and Ultimate Tekken Bowl is a good example. Like, I don’t ownTekken 7. Not yet. But I’ll be tempted to pick it up sooner than latter for the chance to go bowling in a non-bowling video game similar to how instead of ever clearingSuper Monkey Ball 2‘s story mode, I just endlessly play Monkey Baseball....

Vanquish will hit the PSN on November 6th

Boost away! It looks like the polarizing Platinum Games classicVanquishis heading to the PSN next week. While there isn’t a price set at the moment, the 360’s Games on Demand service has it going for $19.99, so expect a similar pricing scheme. Vanquishis one of the better action games I’ve played this generation, so you should definitely give it a shot with an open mind. You could probably find it for less than what the PSN is going to charge for it out in the wild, but $19....

We want YOU…to tell us about your Vita experiences

We’ve already given you a ton ofPlaystation Vita coverage, but now we want to know what you think. Resident Community Manager Mr. Andy Dixon has justcreated a forum posthell-bent on finding out what you think of the Vita so far — specifically, if you’ve had any luck playing or transferring your PSP games onto the unit. For instance, I’ve found that a number of PSP games can’t be downloaded directly from the store, but they can be transferred through the CMA [Content Manager Assistant] or through the Playstation 3’s interface....
