KILL EM ALL THQ Nordic seems to have a penchant forreleasing insanelypriced collector’s editions. The upcomingremake of cult classic seriesDestroy All Humans!is set to receive two bundles, one priced at $400 USD that comes with a cute backpack. It’s kind of superfluous, but also exactly the sort of dumb thing I like seeing. The aforementioned $400 edition, called the “Crypto-137 Edition,” includes a backpack of protagonist Crypto, a 23″ tall statue of him, a keychain, six lithographs, an eye-popping anti-stress toy, a large “premium” box, and some in-game Crypto skins....

It’s gratifying to know that the FPS genre is still going strong. However, these whippersnappers wouldn’t be anywhere without the granddaddy of all shooters that is the originalDoomfrom 1993. The following year saw the release of a sequel,Doom II, which was equally impactful. So much so that people are still making mods for the game. This one from Cheello is rather special indeed. WhenAscend: New Godswas announced,the trailerdidn’t do a great job of getting many people excited. The boring fantasy setting and rather dreary visuals combined with action-heavy gameplay sounds like something that was just churned out to make a quick buck. I wanted to give it a shot, however, because Signal Studios’ last game,Toy Soldiers, was anything but a disappointment. I got some hands-on time withAscendon the show floor and as it stands now, it is underwhelming....

Erotic EA wrangled glistening, sweaty hold of the UFC license in acloseted dealwith defunct THQ and have a game,EA Sports UFC, in the works for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One slated for spring 2014. Here at E3, we were shown a presentation about the amusingly named title and a brief snippet of pre-alpha footage. The focus ofEA Sports UFCis, as one might expect, realism. All the fighters have had a 3D head scan in order to help represent their likeness in game and the tech demos of facial animation shown off were pretty neat....

Driller Thriller A new trademark has been spotted on the European Global Brand Database forMr. Driller: Drill Land, an entry in the subterranean puzzle series that launched in Japan in 2002 but never found its way west. This action by Bandai Namco is even more curious when you consider the publisher’s recent Japanese trademark of something called Mr. Driller Encore. It’s not impossible to surmise that both trademarks could be referencing the same product, that is, a remastered edition of the classic GameCube release....

EA just showed off live gameplay footage ofArmy of Two: The Devil’s Cartelhere at gamescom. The live demo focused on the new pair of heroes working together to take out enemies, much like the past games. Eventually the pair split off, with one going in a helicopter to provide air support while the other stayed on the ground. One thing that was notable from the video was just how much you can mess up the bodies....
