PAX: Potionomics is set to light hearts and cauldrons ablaze this fall

Love and cards in the age of potion economics Potionomicscan seem like a lot up-front. Within minutes of starting my demo at PAX East 2022, I was brewing basic potions, stocking the shelves, and opening up shop. Customers approach and haggle, taunt and flirt. It’s charming, expressive, locks its different parts together well, and has been one of the games I can’t stop thinking about coming out of PAX. The story ofPotionomicsfollows Sylvia, a young and aspiring brewer who inherits a rundown store from her uncle....

Planet Coaster’s new alpha opens up coaster building and terrain editing

Time to give this another look I’ve tinkered withPlanet Coaster‘s first “early-bird” alpha build and while it wasn’t far enough along for me to get terribly invested in my theme park, it did leave me feeling optimistic about what’s to come. The crowds look fantastic, andI just generally like where Frontier Developments is headed with this game (doubly so in light of howRollerCoaster Tycoon Worldis turning out). The second alpha build is available this week, and most notably it enables terrain sculpting and advanced coaster construction....

Pok?dex Animated starts things off right with Cubone

‘Bone is the loneliest Pok?mon YouTuberVersirisbegan a new series of videos introducing Pokémon through adorably animated Pokédex entries, narrated by a GLaDOS-like voice. The first entry features my personal favorite Pokémon, Cubone. Cubone’s story is really sad, so things get a little depressing for the first video. He’s so cute, though! Poor Cubone… I just want to give him a big old hug. Which Pokédex entry would you like to see animated?...

Rainbow Six Siege cheaters can now be banned on the first offense

That’s the new maximum penalty Ooh, an excuse to pull out the old “Halt, criminal scum!” tag. We’ve been through a lot together. Ubisoft has begun taking a harder stance on cheaters and hackers in its tactical competitive multiplayer shooterRainbow Six Siege. As it now standsunder the new code of conduct, players caught “running a modified or otherwise unauthorized version of the game client or a third-party software which provides any sort of unfair advantage (wallhacks, aimhacks…) or causing detriment to other players’ experience” will face a “maximum penalty” of a permanent ban on the first offense....

SDCC 2017 had some crazy stuff for toy and figure collectors

What is Comic-Con if not a venue to push merch? We may not equate SDCC with toy collecting, but that would be a mistake. The industry’s biggest names are always in attendance; who would give up a chance to market to that many pairs of eyeballs? Indeed, the main reason I used to go to Comic-Con was to see what kinds of plastic goodness would be shown off for figure collectors....

Seagate’s SSD Xbox Game Drive is a nice luxury, at the cost of some space

500GB It’s getting to the point where more and more people are switching over to solid state drives (SSDs), even on consoles. While I’ve yet to make the jump on PS4 I decided to check out the Game Drive for Xbox SSD to see how it measured up. Once again it’s plug and play, as is the case with all of theSeagate hardwareI’ve tested on the Xbox One, and the 18 inch cable is more than sufficient for putting it out of sight, plugged into the back of an Xbox One....

Sony VP John Koller admits the PSP ‘overrun with ports’

I love the PSP more than anyone, but even I have to admit that it was a mini port machine. Sony marketing VP John Koller admitted as much in a recent interview withGamasutra: “The issue that happened with PSP is we got overrun with ports,” he said. “It became very difficult for us to define what made PSP unique. The content development became a bit unstructured or decentralised, in that we got a lot of content that was on PlayStation 2 and got thrown over to the handheld....
