Call it a timeout

Past and present NBA stars won’t be taking to the blacktop in a timely fashion. Arcade basketball gameNBA Playgrounds 2will miss its scheduled May 22 release date.

In a post onFacebook, developer Saber Interactive announced the delay without giving a new launch window. Saber kept it vague by saying “We can’t tell you everything now, but we can tell you that this means our launch date of May 22nd will be moved out. Please be patient with us, we promise thatNBA Playgrounds 2will be better than ever. We’ll have more details to share soon.”

This development isn’t ideal because it probably pushes the game out past the end of the NBA Finals and into basketball’s off-season. It’ll release when fans are least likely to be thinking about basketball. Or maybe that doesn’t matter much for an arcade-styled thing like this. Maybe this experience is evergreen.

Regardless,it seems like everything is delaying this spring. Add one more to the pile.
