Tactical insertion

TheGears of Warfranchise got a lot of love at E3 2018. In addition to confirming the existence ofGears 5(which no one thought was under debate), we also got the sort of satiricalGears Pop!andGears Tacticsconfirmedas spin-offs for the grisly, dudebro series. Both were looking to take the IP in completely different directions to cater to different niches, which is always a good thing.Tacticswas announced as a PC exclusive, though, so many didn’t expect it to ever hit the Xbox One. Things have changed, it seems.

AtTwitter this past week, The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson confirmed thatTacticswill indeed be heading to Microsoft’s console. Being developed by Splash Damage (known forBrinkandDirty Bomb), it seems the studio’s work on bothGears of War: Ultimate EditionandGears of War 4got it upgraded from helping with multiplayer to creating a unique entry. It certainly is a good fit for the series, which has always put an emphasis on “stop and pop” shooting.
