Don’t let the game throw you off the path

Just likeZelda: Breath of the Wild, some [radio] towers inTears of the Kingdom areaccompanied by short puzzles that need to be solved before you’re able to unlock them. The Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower could go down as one of the more notorious locations in the game; mostly because there’s a throwaway line from an NPC that will throw you off the scent. Here’s how to actually get in and unlock Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower.

Where to find Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower

Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower can be located to the east of Central Hyrule. It’s very close to where you’ll start the game after finishing up the sky sequence, so it’s a decent tower to get early on.

After approaching the doors, you’ll find that they’re stuck. The Rito NPC there will talk about “tasty mushrooms” in a cave; leading you to believe that he’s too tired to open the way, and only needs food to fuel him. This is a red herring! Opening up the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower has nothing to do with feeding the Rito or gathering mushrooms. Instead, you’ll be using theAscendability to get inside of the tower, and move the sticks blocking the door.

How to solve the puzzle of the  Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower

Facing the tower doors, drop down to the right and spot a cave. Head inside (blowing up the rocks therein), and veer right. Once you reach a small encapsulated room with a rock blocking it; you’ve found the spot directly underneath the tower. UseAscend and rise up through the floor of the tower room. If you need further assistance, look at the minimap and align yourself with the tower icon.

Once you’ve ascended, look at the doors and either collect or Ultrahand the sticks away from the door. Interact with said door and viola! The tower is now unlocked.

Come to find out, the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower is a massively misunderstood puzzle

So I’ve chatted with many folks sinceTears of the Kingdomwas released, and it seems like it’s a 50/50 split on whether or not people fell for the whole “tasty mushroom” line.A lot of it seemingly has to do withhow much practice players have had with the Ascend ability.

I came across the tower very early in the game and hadn’t used Ascend much at all at that point: so I was overthinking it. Other players, heavy-Ascend users, instantly figured it out. Either way the solution is above!
