Disney Dreamlight Valleyis full of items to collect, forage and gather in order to craft or progress through the game’s story. Included in this long list of items is Gemstones, which come with both normal and Shiny variants. They can be hard to track down, but I’m here to help.

In total, there are 18 different types of Gem to collect across both the Valley itself and the Rift in Time DLC location of Eternity Isle. These Gems can be used in multiple crafting recipes, including Furniture items and Paths, but can also be given to Villagers in order to increase their friendship level or if they’re requested as a favorite gift.

How to get Shiny gemstones in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There’s no guaranteed way of finding Shiny Gems in the game, it’s all down to chance. Every time you mine a node, you have a chance to get a Gem drop as a reward. This Gem can either be a normal or a Shiny version, but again, there’s no guarantee either way. The only Gem with no Shiny variant is Onyx.

If you see a mining node with a colored Gem sticking out of it, this will provide you with a guaranteed Gem and possibly a Shiny one, but that’s all down to luck. Each Gem and its Shiny counterpart has a particular selling price, which is also worth remembering if you’re short on funds to splurge in Scrooge’s store.

Five minute timer

Mining node respawn time in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once fully depleted, a mining node will respawn after five minutes and bring a new chance to get a particular Gem. If you’re hunting for that one Gem, it’s a good idea to fully mine the biome in which it spawns before working your way back around for another attempt.
