There are many parts ofDungeons & Dragonslore you may or may not be familiar with, and in a certain side quest, Larian Studios tries to familiarize the player with those spots. Specifically, the Discover the History of Prince Orpheus side quest inBaldur’s Gate 3helps catch you up to speed on a controversial figure. It also opens up some interesting conversation topics with a party member. Here’s how to see it all through.

As far as we can tell, this quest starts whenever you pick up the first Githyanki disc you find for it. There arethree different discs in total, detailing the history of Prince Orpheus forBaldur’s Gate 3players to find. Here’s where to find each one of them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 History of Prince Orpheus

Baldur’s Gate 3History of Prince Orpheus Disc #1: Arcane Tower

The Arcane Tower in the Underdark hides the first disc in the series chronologically. It’s sitting in the library area, and you’ll probably want toget the tower activatedand working to make navigating easier.

While you’re here, you might as well read up on some poetry and talk to the robots on the top floor, so you can make your wayinto the basement.

History of Prince Orpheus Disc #2: Githyanki Creche

For Disc 2 of our collection, we’ll need to head to the Githyanki Creche. This one is probably themostmissable of the three, depending on whether you’ve done anything in this area yet or not, and also because rather than just looting the area, we’ll need to roll some die. Head to the training area and look for the Coach of the Year kicking the bajeezus out of his trainee.

Persuade him to stop doing that, and you can talk to the trainee, eventually getting him to open up about this contraband disc he’s got. Convince him to hand it over, and you’ve got your disc. Granted, this might also be lootable off his body. We haven’t checked because the kid seems nice, but if things have gone south for you in this area, that could be an option.

History of Prince Orpheus Disc #3: Balthazar’s Room

The last disc we need for the side quest lies in the gnarliest place of all: Balthazar’s room in Moonrise Towers. You can use our guide herefor some pointers on how to access it, no matter where you are in the game, as long as you’re still in Act 2.

Once inside, you’re able to wade through the nastiness to get the disc sitting on the table. Also ensure to solve the bookshelf puzzle and get Gale a really great buff in the process. With that, we’ve picked up all three of the History of Prince Orpheus discs we can find inBaldur’s Gate 3.

Speak with Lae’zel

Either one by one, or once you have all the History of Prince Orpheus discs inBaldur’s Gate 3, head back to camp and chat with Lae’zel about them. You’ll be able to have a little discussion with her about these texts, both in what they say and their place in Githyanki culture.

After doing this, you’ll still have a journal entry for the History of Prince Orpheus, but it will be ambiguous. Don’t worry—as to our best understanding, after doing all these steps, you just need to progress through the story and it will naturally conclude. But having done your homework, you’ll likely be better prepared for anything that comes along.
