Read Only Memoriesis a new game from Midboss Games, a studio formed by the organizers of GaymerX. TheirKickstarter campaignis looking for just over $60,000 to develop the game for PC, Mac, iOS and Android devices, and Ouya — indeed the latter is matching each dollar raised with a dollar of their own.
Set in Neo San-Francisco (see, adding ‘Neo’ to your city makes it immediately cyberpunk; it’s the law), you’ll control a journalist that is given a ROM — think smartphone, Google Glass, and R2-D2 all in one — by a friend before they mysteriously disappear. Heavily influenced by the seminalSnatcher,Read Only Memorieswill offer branching paths, puzzles, and fleshed-out characters.
Midboss game are keen to get community feedback to make the characters, both queer and non-queer, ring true. Considering I missed out onSnatcherwhen it came out,Read Only Memorieslooks like a chance to experience that type of 16-bit era adventure game.
