The Director ofElder Scrolls Onlineouted some juicy information recently via avideo interview: the game will feature a single player only story carved inside of the massively multiplayer RPG. Director Matt Firor goes on to describe a situation typically found in most MMOs: “The last thing you want to do is have the final confrontation with Mehrunes Dagon as he’s stomping across the Imperial City, and you see like 15 guys behind you waiting to kill him because they’re on the same quest,” Essentially, this is really close to whatThe Old Republicalready offers.
While it’s a nice option, I much prefer theGuild Wars 2personal story method.GW2basically allows you to experience your story soloorwith a group of friends — a mechanic which is of course conducive to the second “M” in MMO. InThe Old Republic, the numerous solo instances would disjoint the game, and you’d hardly see anyone out in the open world because they were all busy phasing in different instances. Either way, it seems as if single playerElder Scrollsfans may have something to enjoy here, as long as they can get past that dreaded subscription fee.
