Speedrunners of the world, unite
The curtain has dropped on Awesome Games Done Quick 2018 (AGDQ). Once again speedrunners from all over the world descended upon Herndon, Virginia to play hundreds of great (and not so great) video games, in order to raise money for charity.
Over the week, donations have poured in from across the globe. Viewers could enter competitions to win exclusive prizes and vote on in-game variables, such as save file names or narrative decisions. When the digital dust cleared seven days later, the grand total stood at anamazing$2,262,818,19. The incredible sum, whichbeats last year’s total by some $40,000, will be donated toward the tireless efforts of thePrevent Cancer Foundation.

Over the week, players smashed games ranging from AGDQ veterans such asSuper Mario WorldandMetal Gear Solid, to modern classics, including anwild run onResident Evil 7and the event’s finale, held onZelda: Breath of the Wild.Video of all games has been archived and can be accessed from the event’sReddit page.
Congratulations to everyone who was a part of AGDQ 2018, whether player, presenter, tech crew or donator. You should all be very proud of your inspiring efforts and amazing results.

The next event, Summer Games Done Quick, will take place in Minnesota from June 24 to July 04, 2025.
