A few weeks ago at GDC, Mare Sheppard of indie game company Metanet told a small but packed conference roomwhat she thought about Women in Games initiatives; her conclusion was less than favorable. Although she supports the ideas that they strive towards, Sheppard criticized such initiatives on the basis that they perpetrate the same harmful traits that they seek to oppose: labeling and exclusivity.
